Choosing the correct (H) class for your application. Each wooden pole has a marker at the end which indicates the Hazard Class Symbol of the treated timber. This Hazard Class Symbol indicates the hazard level for which the wooden pole has been ideally treated. For this reason, we ensure that wood with different end use applications receives different treatment levels.
Here is a summary of the different Hazard Classes:
Hazard Class Symbol: H6
Hazard level: High/Marine
Suitable for: prolonged immersion in sea water. Consequently, this timber is ideal for marine piling, landing steps, retaining walls, etc.
Hazard Class Symbol: H5
Hazard level: High/Freshwater
Suitable for: outside use where the treated timber is in contact with heavy wet soil or in fresh water. Consequently, this treated timber is ideal for building substructures for walkways and jetties, etc.
Hazard Class Symbol: H4
Hazard level: High/in ground
Suitable for: outside in the ground, where wood is subject to periodic wetting and leaching. Consequently, this treated timber is ideal for wooden fencing, landscaping, stakes, etc.
Hazard Class Symbol: H3
Hazard level: Moderate / above ground
Suitable for: outside above the ground, where wood is subject to periodic wetting and leaching. Consequently, this treated timber is ideal for outside decking, stairs, homes, etc.
Hazard Class Symbol: H2
Hazard level: Low / internal
Suitable for: Inside above ground, where wood is protected from wetting and leaching. Consequently, this treated timber is ideal for roof trusses, internal structural timber, flooring, etc.
